Checked prints, oversized topcoats and wool trousers are all evocative of this season's reimagination of menswear-inspired fashion. Designers from Jil Sander to Lanvin to Dries Van Noten revealed their visions of the effortless yet polished style of our counterparts on the FW13-14 runways. What's my interpretation? Classic trousers styled with a chic, feminine feel.

The key is feminine accessories, paired with tailoring and proportion. I relied on the geometric metallic details in the clutch and mesh booties to bring movement to the solid colors. And as someone who is petite, I opted to cuff the pants and wear statement heels to keep the look from becoming unflattering on my figure. Case and point: before I was photoshoot ready, my boyfriend observed and said, "Those are some fancy sweat pants!" Le sigh.
What do you think about my outfit? I hope this was fun and inspiring, and I look forward to reading your style advice on menswear-inspired fashion. Have a great week before Thanksgiving!
