Hi friends, happy Thanksgiving Eve! Tomorrow my family will be heading to New Jersey for a potluck with some close friends. It's been several years since we've gathered under one roof for Thanksgiving, but I can still remember the childhood games and delicious fusion of American/Chinese food. Looking back, I feel thankful for all I have; looking forward, I am hopeful for what's to come—in friendship, love and career. Here's to being positive, confident and (fashionably) fearless in life.
Skirt: American Apparel
Tank: Banana Republic
Bag: Michael Kors
I'm always looking for new ways to experiment with fashion: whether it was heels & waist belts in high school or liquid leggings in college. For this look, I wore thigh-high boots with a velvet pencil skirt simply because I never tried that combination before. The allover leather exudes more edge than black tights and booties, and deters it from being too prim. I also thought the lush green would contrast nicely with a lighter toned printed blazer and gold accent pieces.
My boyfriend Doug and I stayed in Queens and explored Flushing Meadows Corona Park—home of the Unisphere and Men In Black spaceships. The last time we came here was in August for the U.S. Open, but we were rushing to the games and didn't take the time to look around. This time we noticed people skating at the base and newlyweds taking their wedding photos in front of the Unisphere :)
I'd love to hear your thoughts on my outfit! What is your favorite piece and how do you experiment with style?
And a departing note: our capacity to appreciate shouldn't be limited to Thanksgiving. Let's take strides to be thankful daily—even if it's getting a seat on the subway or reconnecting with an old friend. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone and see you next week!
